Why 40PDF exists

Most PDF websites make you wait, push you to sign up, cap how many files you can use, or put a watermark on the result. Worse, many of them upload your documents to a server you know nothing about. Your contract, your ID, your bank statement, now sitting on someone else's computer.

We wanted something simpler. Open a page, pick a tool, get your file. That is it.

How it works

40PDF does the work inside your own browser. When you add a file, it is read by your device, changed by your device, and handed back to you. It is never sent to our servers. That is not a promise we make with small print. It is how the site is built, and you can check it yourself by watching your browser's network tab.

What we stand for

• Free and honest. No hidden paywalls, and no watermarks.
• Plain language. If a tool has limits, we tell you what they are. For example, we say clearly when strong compression turns text into pictures, and when a scan has no text to extract.
• Your files are yours. We do not store, read or keep them.
