Is 40PDF really free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use, with no signup, no trial period and no watermark on your files.
Are my files safe?
Yes. Your files are processed inside your own browser. They are never uploaded to our servers, so nobody else can see them.
Do I need to install anything?
No. 40PDF works in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone. Just open a tool and start.
Is there a file size limit?
We do not set one. Because your device does the work, very large files (hundreds of MB) can be slow or run out of memory on older phones.
Can I use it offline?
Not fully. The page and a few helper files load from the internet. After they load, your files are still handled on your device.
Why did my compressed PDF lose its selectable text?
The Strong and Extreme levels turn pages into compressed pictures to make the file much smaller. If you need selectable text, use the Light level.
